Decatur Area Arts Council announces the March 2022 exhibit in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center, 125 N. Water St. in downtown Decatur. Entitled “Pendulum,” the exhibit will be open March 4-25. The exhibit features 2D sculptures by Tremont, Illinois artist Nichole Gronvold Roller.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception for the exhibit which will be held during the First Friday Gallery Walk in downtown Decatur, IL on Friday, March 4, 5-7:30 pm. Nichole will speak briefly about her art at 6 pm. Pianist Jacob Anderson will provide music throughout the evening. The event is open free to the public.

Through irregularly-shaped canvases, lines and forms, artist Nichole Gronvold Roller examines the Midwest landscape from an entirely unique perspective. You may feel as though you are looking through a kaleidoscope as you study Nichole’s work, but you will be drawn into these sculpture-like paintings, which beg you to consider landscapes in a whole new way.
Nichole received a BFA in Art Education from Minnesota State University of Moorhead, an MA in Art Education from Boston University, and an MA in Painting from Bradley University. In addition to being an artist, Nichole is a full-time high school art teacher in Tremont, IL, where she has been teaching for the past twenty-two years.
