Bring on the new year with a celebration of fresh and exciting young artists! Illinois Art Gallery (formerly Gallery 510) presents their annual Young Artists Showcase from January 5-29 in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center, 125 N. Water St. in downtown Decatur. The exhibit features exemplary art by students in fifth through eighth grade from Macon County and the surrounding area. Over 200 pieces of art were juried to select 100+ best entries now on exhibit. The variety of subject matter and art media represent the amazing creativity of these aspiring artists. Community sponsors DAAC, Illinois Arts Council Agency, Andreas Foundation, and Dynagraphics/Fast Impressions proudly support this showcase aimed at nurturing and encouraging young artists. A public reception will be held during the Gallery Walk on the 2nd Friday, January 11 from 5-7:30 pm. Awards will be given to 5th-6th graders at 5:30 pm and to 7th-8th graders at 6:30 pm.
The other art galleries to be open during the Gallery Walk on Friday, January 11 include:
