The First Friday Gallery Walk for October will take place on Friday, October 5 from 5-7:30 pm in downtown Decatur.
Illinois Art Gallery (formerly Gallery 510) will present October National 2018, an annual juried art exhibit, in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center, 125 N. Water St. The exhibit, which celebrates original creativity and craftsmanship, features the work of 36 artists from ten states – New York, California, Oregon, Illinois, Indiana, Hawaii, Maryland, Missouri, Washington, and Wisconsin. Works on display include a variety of media and styles from painting to photography, basketry, sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics and printmaking. The exhibit also gives special recognition to art honoring Breast Cancer Awareness month. Juror Tony Crowley, an art instructor from Illinois State University, will speak at 6 pm about the art work on exhibit and his choices for awards. Musicians Amy Catron (cello) and Amanda Pond (flute) will perform during the event.
Blue Connection (also at the Madden Arts Center) will feature Millikin University alumni art. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
At Illinois Art Gallery (formerly Gallery 510), 160 E. Main St., Sharon Zimmerman will be showing her watercolor and acrylic paintings. She will speak at 6:30 pm.
