The First Friday Gallery Walk for June will take place on Friday, June 1 from 5-7:30 pm in downtown Decatur.
The Decatur Area Arts Council presents its International Arts Experience featuring an African cultural experience centered around the exhibit of African art and artifacts in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center. Features include:
- Afriky Lolo, nationally-acclaimed West African dance, drums and costumes
- 6 pm presentation by Ibiyinka Alao, Nigerian Ambassador of Art
- Storytelling performance of “Ibi’s Fireflies” through dance drama
- A taste of authentic African cuisine by Chef Nick, Bizou
- African-inspired art-making for all ages: weaving, masks, Ndebele huts and figures
Blue Connection (also at the Madden Arts Center) features pottery by Millikin University student, faculty and alumni.
Gallery 510 at 160 E. Main St. features the art work of local artist, Rae Nell Spencer, and The ArtFarm at 252 N. Park St. features art work by Ray Cowgill.
Artist talks will take place at 6 pm at the Madden Arts Center and 6:30 pm at Gallery 510. The exhibit and the Gallery Walk are open free to the public.
