August Exhibit Features Expressionist Paintings
The Decatur Area Arts Council will host an exhibit by artist Johnson Simon entitled "Emotion in Motion," August 2-29, 2024, in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center in downtown Decatur.
The opening reception for the exhibit will be part of Downtown Decatur’s First Friday Gallery Walk on August 2, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Johnson Simon is an expressionistic artist who uses heavy dark lines with bright vibrant colors that express deep emotion and flare. Born in Turks and Caicos, he completed his Master’s degree and is currently an artist in residence at the Harrison Arts Center in Indianapolis. While he struggles himself with the daily challenges of Cerebral Palsy, Johnson teaches art to students with developmental disabilities.
