Jami Fawley Appointed Executive Director of Decatur Area Arts Council.

December 13, 2024

The Decatur Area Arts Council is excited to announce the appointment of Jami Fawley as its new Executive Director, effective January 1, 2025. Fawley, a Decatur native, returns to the Arts Council after serving as the Director of Education and Outreach for the Children's Museum of Illinois.

Fawley steps into the role following the retirement of long-time Executive Director, Jerry Johnson. Her journey with the Arts Council began in 2014 as an instructor, and she later became the coordinator of the Anne Lloyd Gallery in 2019. "This new role offers me an opportunity to serve the arts community in a different capacity, yet it feels very much like a homecoming,” says Fawley. She says she is grateful to Jerry Johnson and his predecessors for establishing a strong foundation for the arts in Decatur, and she looks forward to continuing to build on their legacy.

An active visual artist and community member, Fawley serves on the board of directors for both Barn Colony Artists and Gallery 510. She is also a committee member for Farm to Fund, an annual farm-to-table event that supports the Northeast Community Fund in feeding those in need.

The Decatur Area Arts Council looks forward to Fawley's leadership and her continued dedication to enriching the local arts scene.
