DAAC is collaborating with Millikin University School of Music to launch an exciting series of mid-day musical concerts to be held in the Anne Lloyd Gallery at the Madden Arts Center in downtown Decatur. Four events are planned for this new program, entitled Mid•Day MUSIC. Each event will showcase a “preview” of musical selections from the four 2018-19 Faculty Recital Series concerts.
Designed to be a mid-day lunch break or pick-me-up, the events will be open free to the public. Bring a brown bag lunch (or not). Relax and enjoy an eclectic variety of musical treats. Chat with the amazing musicians from the MU faculty. All Mid•Day MUSIC events – September 26, November 7, January 23 and March 20 – will be held on Wednesdays from 12:15-12:45 pm. Each will feature different musicians, instruments and types of music.
Mid•Day MUSIC kicks off on Wednesday, September 26 with musical excerpts from the American Songbook concert featuring favorite tunes by Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin and Richard Rodgers. Featured musicians are Justin John Moniz (tenor), Steve Widenhofer (piano), Brian Justison (drums) and Chris Nolte (bass).
Details of the other upcoming Mid•Day MUSIC events can be found at www.decaturarts.org.
This program is funded in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. For more information, contact the Decatur Area Arts Council at 423-3189.
