David F. Driesbach (1922–2019) was an acclaimed American printmaker and educator known for his imaginative and intricate works. Born in Wausau, Wisconsin, he studied at Beloit College, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the University of Iowa, earning both his BFA and MFA. Driesbach taught at several institutions throughout his career, including Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, before spending 25 years as a professor at Northern Illinois University, where he founded the printmaking program. His work, marked by fantastic imagery and technical mastery in intaglio, has been collected by major institutions such as the Seattle Art Museum and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France. Driesbach's creative legacy endures through his innovative prints and dedication to advancing the art of printmaking for future generations.
