Support the Arts
Become a Legacy Member
Be a part of the future of the Decatur Area Arts Council by planning for a special kind of gift, such as a bequest in your will or a trust that pays you income. There are many creative and flexible planned giving vehicles that can benefit you and your family while contributing to the future of the arts in our community.
Learn more below about a few of the options available:
One of the simplest ways to support our future is to name the Decatur Area Arts Council as a beneficiary (or partial beneficiary) on your life insurance policies, IRAs, or other retirement investment vehicles. Contact your financial or legal advisor to learn more about how to use these assets as a gift to the Decatur Area Arts Council.
Another way to support Decatur's arts in the future is to provide a bequest to the Decatur Area Arts Council in your will.
Charitable Gift Annuities
An agreement between you and the Decatur Area Arts Council that provides you with regular fixed payments annually (an annuity) for life in exchange for transferring assets to the Decatur Area Arts Council.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
An agreement between you and a trustee that can provide fixed or variable income to meet your specific financial needs, at the termination of which the remaining assets are passed to the Decatur Area Arts Council.
Charitable Lead Trusts
An agreement between you and a trustee that provides income to the Decatur Area Arts Council for a period of years, at the end of which the trust property typically passes to an heir.
Retirement accounts assets, if left to anyone other than a spouse, may be subject to high taxes. By designating the Decatur Area Arts Council as the recipient of any benefits remaining in your retirement plan, you may reduce the taxes on those assets. Contact your financial or legal advisor to learn more about how to use these assets as a gift to the Decatur Area Arts Council.
Gifts of property are unique and meaningful contributions to the Decatur Area Arts Council. Real estate can also be a valuable asset when used to fund either a charitable remainder trust or a charitable lead trust. Contact your financial or legal advisor to learn more about how to use these assets as a gift to the Decatur Area Arts Council.
The information above is general and is not intended to provide specific advice about the legal or tax implications of any specific planned giving vehicle.
