Welcome to the Decatur Area Arts Council web site where you will find information on nearly all of the "arts" happenings in our community.
Our Mission
The mission of the Decatur Area Arts Council is to enhance the quality of life of all citizens through the arts, assuring that the arts are a necessary component of life in our community. Through our staff's tireless efforts, the Decatur Area Arts Council works to provide a variety of programs and services. We strive to provide arts experiences that can be enjoyed by the novice and knowledgeable.
The Decatur Area Arts Council serves the arts in and around Decatur by:
- Creating an environment which is conducive to the growth and development of individual artists and arts organizations.
- Facilitating partnerships within the community to nurture arts opportunities
- Encouraging arts education opportunities for all ages.
- Acting as a conduit for arts information
- Promoting a broad range of arts activities throughout the area through the support of artists and arts organizations in all disciplines
- Advocating the introduction of the arts to diverse segments of the community
- Stimulating and promoting artistic development of programs that reflect cultural diversity
- Contributing to the economic well-being of the community
- Promoting the preservation of our local cultural heritage
