INTERNATIONAL ARTS
EXPERIENCE
Third year. . . and GROWING!
From May through
July, Decatur’s city-wide International Arts Experience brings you
five festivals,
seven art exhibits, twenty live music concerts, several downtown events,
choral concerts, dance, musical theatre and more. Kids through adults,
family and friends can celebrate the imagination, creativity, and
diversity of many cultural traditions during this arts extravaganza.
With the
launching of the Lincoln Bicentennial celebrations in 2008, Decatur area
residents can choose from a plethora of activities where history meets
the arts, anchored by the national exhibit Portraying Lincoln: Man
of Many Faces hosted by DAAC at the Madden Arts Center. In addition,
the Lakeside Music & Arts Festival, July 5-6 in Nelson Park, promises to
be bigger and better, combining dynamic international performers, visual
artists demonstrations coordinated by Gallery 510 and children’s art
activities presented by DAAC. Both flagship events will be
opportunities you won’t want to miss!
Experience the
world without ever leaving Decatur this summer! The International
Arts Experience is non-stop arts and entertainment for Decatur
area residents and visitors from around the mid-west.
The
International Arts Experience project has been made possible
through contributions from ADM, Ameren, Caterpillar, and Tate & Lyle as
well as the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
